Part 4 of the MMX3 minimalist speed run.
This is a segmented speed run through Mega Man X3, in it's entirety, under the following restrictions; no weapons, no upgrades, no damage sustained under any circumstance, and no use of Zero (outside of a forced section in the Intro Stage segment.)

What is it with Capcom and nailing ice stages? I guess they want to make up for the bullshit of Ice Man's stage all the way back in Mega Man 1, cause they've never missed with these. Buffalo's stage is very short, and it's also an absolute blast owing mostly to the ice physics. Conversely, that also causes the two defining moments of challenge in the stage, which are mercifully located in the first 40 or so seconds of the levels. A commonly ignored quirk of the MMX1-3 engine's physics is that performing a normal jump on a downward slope causes the jump to go significantly higher than it normally does. You can do this for some fun stuff, like obtaining the sub tank in Bubble Crab's stage without Bubble Crab's weapon. Here, you can combine it with the slippery ice on the floor to get some serious distance, and skip what would normally be a bunch of standard dashing. Except, of course, there has to be something to make this maneuver a total pain in the ass. Located in both of these sections are swaths of those lovely helicopter enemies I ranted about in Blast Hornet's stage, only here I have the luxury of dealing with them right at the start. Past that, the rest of the stage is super simple, although still chock fun of some fun slippery floor stuff. We do have one tricky jump at the end, where after a jump over an enemy in a snow mobile, I have to time my jump off the slope while recovering from the momentum of a dash jump. It's hard, but nothing worth crying about. The boss, well, uh, all I can say is, the fastest route to beating him definitely shows off some quirks in his AI. In case you don't feel like exploiting his fear of X jumping repeatedly, he charges and fires some rather annoying projectiles. Sounds like every other fucking boss in the game. This is pretty much the last easy ride of the challenge aside from Crush Crawfish, so buckle up for the next few segments, including the next one, Toxic Seahorse.
