Mega Man X4 (PS1), no damage taken in the Volcano (Magma Dragoon) as X. This is a re-uploaded series called "Arm Parts Only", which is a challenge run where I can only get the arm upgrade (Stock Shot). This means limited special weapon ammo until the end, and allows for some strategic speedrunning with the stock shot.

Volcano (Magma Dragoon) Overview:

The Volcano area for X is pretty much the same level of difficulty for Zero, really. Both characters can safely speedrun the first area no problem with no notable difficulty. The same cases goes for area 2, except it's slightly easier as X due to him having range to play with. You see, like in all my Magma Dragoon videos up until this point, the meteors that fall are RANDOM. You could either get a good cycle where they barely get in your way (like here) or have several of them crashing down on you. In very rare cases, they can also force you into some pretty undodgeable situations. However, contrary to popular belief, this section is actually easier WITHOUT the ride armor. Since you don't have that big clunky thing full of input lag hindering your maneuverability, that does open up more room and speed to avoid any tricky meteor combinations.

Magma Dragoon isn't as tough as he is when you're playing Zero, since X can (again) use his range to his advantage. In Zero's case, he has to get all close and personal in a literal street fighter brawl against this guy. With X, if you know his attack patterns (trust me, while he looks random, he does have a series of different pattern combinations he uses), you'll have a relatively easy time here, provided you've got the reflexes to actually dodge him. Dragoon's fast; the fastest and most aggressive of the X4 boss line-up. But his main gimmick like I said earlier is his multiple combinations. He shuffles through these combos at random, it's no rocket science to figure out. For an example, if he fires one Hadouken, high jumps then Shouryukens you, that's a combo. Two Hadoukens and a jump... a very common one. So on and so forth. You just need to pay attention to these combinations and know when you've got an opening to strike. Literally, he's programmed as a Street Fighter CPU that purposely has predictable patterns to exploit, just that those combo shuffles are meant to throw you off into thinking he throws out any singular move at random when that's not the case.

Still, reflexes are in heavy demand here, so that's why Dragoon has a decently high difficulty rating for a no damage run of all types. His second half of the stage combined with his fairly challenging boss battle makes for a mean combo to endure.
