Mega Man X4 (X): Split Mushroom | No Damage | Stock Arm Only
28Mega Man X4 (PS1), no damage taken in the Bio laboratory (Split Mushroom) as X. This is a re-uploaded series called "Arm Parts Only", which is a challenge run where I can only get the arm upgrade (Stock Shot). This means limited special weapon ammo until the end, and allows for some strategic speedrunning with the stock shot.
Bio Laboratory (Split Mushroom) Overview:
Well, the Bio Laboratory certainly has it's certain spots that can be a bit annoying for X, but the Stock Arm is still excellent here. Since enemies are so frail in this stage, one stock decimates them all minus the mini-boss. It's all about knowing which enemies to shoot and which to pass up, as usual. However, I will note that I could've speed through the very beginning quicker, but eh. Not a huge deal. The second area of this stage is less cluttered, minus the stairwell area. The Spikey Wheels of Speedy Death make their return and... well, Stock shots make quick work of them, really. They all bounce in a fixed pattern, so nothing to more to say there.
Split Mushroom is actually kind of a joke with Stock Arm. Most of his HP is already gone by the time he and his clone begins their Spin2Win tactics. But the real difficulty here is keeping up with their constant shifts into faster speeds and making sure they don't mix up and confuse you during their spinning. It's real easy to lose track of the real one. But if you can kill him before his second phase of spinning (where the confusion game gets worse), it's not too bad.
