Mega Man Zero 2: No Damage (Active Form) Temple of Wind
Mega Man Zero 2 (GBA), no damage taken in Armed Phenomenon Harpuia's stage (Temple of Wind) while achieving an S-Rank (100 points); Active Form only. This video's part of a series; a playthrough dedicated to using only the Active Form for more stylish and fresh gameplay. This is a NG+ file.
Armed Phenomenon Harpuia (Temple of Wind) Overview:
Hoo boy. At the very least, this one's harder than the last two, though mainly because of the wild, but brilliant choreography going on here. The enemy placement's nuts, but it's not "cheap". It's definitely a call back to the Neo Arcadia Entrance from Zero 1 on how it's structured and if you slow down once, you're going to make it harder on yourself. This is the type of stage that rewards you for staying on your toes. In other words: it's easy when you're going fast. If this stage was actually the same length as Z1's Neo Arcadia, it'd be too crazy. The only one of these three areas before the end that actually warrants it's short length. Suffice to say, Temple of Wind's without a doubt my favorite of these three stages. And what's better, this stage's practically built for Active Form, so the gameplay here should mostly speak for itself.
(And Cloudy Stone rocks. Another one of my favorite tracks.)
Harpuia on the other hand... he's the middle child of these Armed Phenomenon forms. He isn't outright stupid like Fefnir, but his fight's nowhere near as interesting as Leviathan's. Similar to Fefnir, EX Skills are practically useless against him because he's out of reach most of the time. There not a lot you can do here aside from using the Shield Boomerang tech I showed off way back in Kuwagust Anchus's stage. It was about the only thing I could do to make this fight somewhat fresh, but other than that, it's all about creating openings for yourself to get in your charged attacks and put him out his misery. Granted, you CAN just normal slash him, but that's boring and unnecessarily drawing things out (either that, or all the Zero 3 I've been playing lately has been spoiling me).
One thing you should watch out for, though. He's affected by the RNG, so he won't behave the same every time at the start. He'll always start the battle with the first barrage of missiles, but after that, he'll either start up a second barrage (like here), or just fly towards you. With me using the Boomerang, this is harder to deal with because that means I have to react to a potential dive down while being sort of slowed down by the charge/shield hold. You can always dash jump to cancel out the grounded restriction, but if you're anticipating a second missile barrage, then you'd have already chucked the thing and he's coming at you while you're completely vulnerable. Throw the boomerang after you react.
