Mega Man Zero 2: No Damage (Active Form) Temple of Ice
Mega Man Zero 2 (GBA), no damage taken in Armed Phenomenon Leviathan's stage (Temple of Ice) while achieving an S-Rank (100 points); Active Form only. This video's part of a series; a playthrough dedicated to using only the Active Form for more stylish and fresh gameplay. This is a NG+ file.
Armed Phenomenon Leviathan (Temple of Ice) Overview:
The stage is actually a bit shorter than the last one, though we've got underwater and ice physics to deal with again.... yay. Since this stage is a shorty, I'll only highlight the noteworthy parts. The ascending rooming with the giant frozen platform rising with the water... well, if you take your time here, you won't even need to do the enemy point grind because the jumping fishes provide plenty of re-spawns for you. Problem is... this section is SLOW by playing it out normally. As such, it's easier to just grind before or after this room, then just speed run via the walls. It's all still easy until you reach the final part where you need a pretty frame-perfect clip to the wall. I say this because it's still easy to chain the wall, but the farther up you clip it, the better chance you can pull yourself up and NOT instantly die from the spikes the moment you let go (you're invincible to the spikes while hooked, actually). I've had quite a few failed takes just failing at hooking on correctly.
Second, the last area. You have to be really careful with the shielded enemies. With underwater + ice physics working in conjunction to make your mobility seriously hindered, it's difficult to keep up with them when they run away from you. Double so now that you have to watch out for falling into spike pits. Charged buster works wonders here.
The battle with Armed Phenomenon Leviathan is... interesting, to say the least. She's not a total pushover like Fefnir, but the second battle against her shows just how vulnerable to combo damage that she is. If I wanted to just destroy her with charged saber + charged chain combo + fire chip (because yes, that is possible), she'd be dead in a matter of seconds. However, if you give her some room to breathe, you can see that she's some crazy tricks up her sleeve. For starters, a lot of her attacks are quite fast, and since we aren't as mobile as we'd like to due to having our mobility hindered, she's got a sizable advantage against Active Form. Also, since the ice floor makes you slide way too much, it's VERY easy to just Tenshouzan right onto her. One tip I can advise is when you're ready to attack her, just do short jump to properly position yourself. A good way of telling you're in safe range to Tenshouzan is standing right at the tip of that block in the background that's sort of got some frozen water on the top part.
