Mega Man X6 [XTREME]: Easiest Path to 100% - Part 10 - Recycle Center Bonus Area
Please note: I am not playing at a high skill level. This is meant to be a guide for beginners or people who find this game too hard, so playing with too much practice would be self-defeating. This was recorded after I hadn't played a Mega Man game in over a year, on purpose.
You'll see here why I wanted to kill Infinity Mijinion and get Zero's Giga Attack. It's absolutely crucial for making these crusher stages easier on Xtreme Mode. The Giga Attack stops both the screen scrolling and the crusher moving, allowing you to kill enemies with the level around you frozen in place.
Right away, we switch off D-Barrier and equip Hyper Dash. It's required to make one of the jumps in here. I could equip two parts, but I'm continuing to operate under the worst-case scenario Nightmare Souls assumption. In this case, that means 800 Souls (4 bosses), just short of the requirement to equip a second part. Realistically you will almost certainly be SA by now, and should feel free to keep D-Barrier on.
0:51 A commonly-known trick at this point, ditching the suit here allows you to skip the challenges of this first crusher.
1:45 I lure this guy to me because otherwise he'll go for the Reploid behind him. You can also just race him to it and beat him, as long as you time the crusher right.
1:53 This guy is stationary and not a threat to the Reploid.
2:05 Giga Attack isn't necessary here, but it can be a real life saver if you mistime this segment (like I do here).
3:02 Another place where Giga Attack can easily prevent a reset.
3:19 I make this part look way harder than it actually is. I was wanting to conserve Giga Attacks because I'd wasted a lot and not taken as much damage as I normally do (damage refills Zero's Giga Attack rapidly), so I was low on uses. So I'm trying to lure the second Nightmare close enough to get to kill him with my saber. It never works, and I have to make a mad dash at the end that is really hard. Just plan a little bit better and you won't be in this mess.
4:10 This part, however, I actually make look even easier than it is. This is one of the hardest dashes to make in the entire game, and the reason we brought Hyper Dash. This is not really how I recommend you do this. Instead, make sure you have two uses of Giga Attack left. Dash in once, kill this guy with your Giga, then dash back out. Repeat that one more time for his respawn. Then, blast through this area using a dash/jump/dash/jump pattern.
4:30 I usually suicide here after killing these guys once because I can't reach all of their souls. I can this time, so, should have skipped the suicide.
The Reploid that I just grabbed, on this side of the pit, is Shock Buffer. So technically at this point you don't have to proceed any further and you can just Game Over back out. However, there are only two more Reploids along this path, so I like to go ahead and clear them out while we're over here so I don't have to traverse that last crusher path ever again. It is possible, however, to lose a Reploid in the next room to a Nightmare, so if you'd rather leave now with your Shock Buffer, feel free. Unfortunately in either scenario you'll have to face the crusher again if going for 100%.
4:42 You can make this jump with Hyper Dash by the narrowest of margins. The Reploids here is Hyper Drive, which I don't think is ever as good of a Limited Part as Life Recover.
5:05 Ugh, autoscroller hell.
6:17 Once you get under this long bit of crusher, you want to ditch your mech. It won't allow you to save the next Reploid in time.
6:31 I'm activating Giga Attack here to freeze the screen where the final Nightmare is spawned, but not the Reploid yet. This forces the Nightmare to come to me, and allows me to take my time and make sure to kill them all before losing control of them.
6:44 After grabbing this guy there's nothing left but High Max, so it's back to a long round of suicides.
7:53 Since I'm just suiciding out, I decide to show off maybe my very least favorite mechanic in all of X6. If you are crouching under one of these crusher obstacles and release the down button, your character apparently stands up with such violent force that they shatter their own skull and die. This is the last straw that makes these crusher levels so notoriously infuriating. If your character would just "stay down", or just take minor damage upon standing, or go into iframes, or anything else, these stages wouldn't be so bad. But the number of deaths caused by releasing crouch too soon because you have to rush to try to make the next cycle... it's very, very frustrating.
