Please note: I am not playing at a high skill level. This is meant to be a guide for beginners or people who find this game too hard, so playing with too much practice would be self-defeating. This was recorded after I hadn't played a Mega Man game in over a year, on purpose.


This is perhaps the most infamous area of X6. Not only is is packed with Reploids that practically demand multiple suicides to save, but on Xtreme Mode there is a Nightmare sitting right on top of a Reploid, their sprites already overlapping.

In spite of the unnecessarily cruel nature of this setup, this Reploid is not actually that hard to save once you know how to approach the situation.

0:27 First, another "battle" with Illumina. This time there are no Reploids along this path to save, so we're going to have no healing to work with.

1:10 Not a bad fight, but you'll note that even with Shock Buffer and D-Barrier, getting through Illumina is no joke, still consuming about half of my health. Some people argue that this is actually the hardest main stage in the game (though I still think it's the Recycle Lab), it's easy to see why.

1:26 To my left here is the Dr. Light capsule and Heart Tank. Don't forget about these. I'll pick them up later in this video, but I almost do forget them.

1:32 You'll notice I'm ignoring several Reploids. For the purposes of the video guide, I want to first show you where the most endangered Reploids are. There are 3 high priority Reploids that you should focus on saving first.

1:35 First endangered Reploid. The risk to him is slow, but you don't have time to ignore him and get to the other end of the screen. The death after is not intentional and not necessary...

1:53 Second endangered Reploid. Get to him quickly. More importantly, this is the positioning we want to go for the really infamous Reploid.

2:06 So when we're standing here, the super-endangered Reploid is directly below us, under this platform. The easiest way to reach him is just to hold right to slide down the wall below us, and then right a bit more until we fall right through him. This is, unfortunately, a one time shot. If you miss, he will die before you do. The two Reploids near him seem like they're in immediate danger as well, but as long as you keep using aimed pitfalls to try to save them and let yourself die if you miss, the Nightmares will never reach them.

2:20 Now I go about the business of cleaning up the rest of the Reploids in this area.

2:40 This death isn't intentional, but I grab one of the bottom Reploids I need anyway, so no big deal.

2:58 This is another accident and even less useful. However, I still have to Game Over to get out of this stage, so it's really not a big deal either.

3:15 I grab the last of the three bottom Reploids.

3:34 And then I grab the very last Reploid in the area.

4:19 I finally remember to grab the Dr. Light capsule and Heart Tank before I go. This actually completes the Blade Armor, along with the parts we grabbed in the Amazon, Laser Institute, and Central Museum.
