A deceptively simple, yet potentially quite useful glitch.

To start the glitch, all I do is I first make sure that the binoculars mode is on "set marker". Then I open the mode menu again and leave the cursor on some of the other bombing modes, then let go of the binoculars button without pressing anything else. Then, the next time I open binoculars, instead of leaving a marker Snake will do a glitched air strike of the type I left the cursor on previously.

So what makes the air strike glitched? First of all, it costs the wrong amount of money. It can cost as little as 0, otherwise it typically costs around 5000, which is still far cheaper than a normal higher level strike. I think you always get 0 costing strikes if you never choose any other mode than "set marker" from the start of your MGSV session.

Another interesting thing is that the air strike effects don't always work like they should. First case study is the sleeping gas dispersal. It puts everything else to sleep except Snake, leading to some interesting situations like in the second clip chokeholding a guard inside the sleeping gas cloud, then when you let go of him he is instantly asleep.

One of my favorite things to do with the glitch is to use smoke dispersals. Unlike normal smoke dispersals, the glitched smoke dispersal doesn't actually disperse - it stays on the map seemingly forever. There some footage from one of my play sessions where I filled a part of the M30 map with a dozen of persistent smoke clouds.

Normal explosive air strikes seem to work normally? So I didn't include them in this video. Chaff dispersal effects also seem to last forever (and follow Snake around, which is kind of annoying in the long run with the high-pitched sounds it makes), but I have no idea if the glitched chaff dispersal actually effects electronics or is useful in any way.

Not on the video, but I one time also managed to do an air strike which cost 0 and which never resulted in an air strike. I just got a pointless marker on the map which showed the location of an air strike that was never destined to be.
