Part 17.In Super Metroid, Samus also gained some new abilities that
would be vital in later installments. For example, the Grapple Beam
allows Samus to cling onto magnetic surfaces while swinging through
gaps, the Speed Booster lets her run at high speed plowing through
walls and defying gravity in the process and the Charge Beam which
whenever the player held down the fire button lets Samus unleash a
charged blast of energy incinerating her enemies. Other new abilities
include the Gravity Suit, Power Bombs, Super Missiles, Hyper Beam and
many others that either return or influence new ideas in the sequels to
follow. Another noticeable thing about it are the boss battles in which
you face a total of ten of them requiring the player to be on the move
in the hopes of finding ways to taking them down. Every battle from
start to finish provide an omen to the final climatic battle. Mother
Brain who reached gigantic proportions was ready to finish off Samus...
when out of nowhere... I can't spoil it so if you want to know what
happens, play it... you will not be disappointed. When the game ends,
depending on well and fast you play rewards you with a screenshot of a
barely clothed Samus Aran. It shows the time you complete the game as
well as a percentage of how many items you got. That very percentage
tempted players more convincing them to not only finish the game with
100% but doing it as fast as possible. Super Metroid is considered to
be the most popular Speed-running game of all time as to this day, its
still being mastered.
