Samus has cleared out the Metroids in Area 2 and gotten some good power-ups. Now, she leaves Area 2 and moves on to the next area.

After progressing through the main shaft, she soon arrives in Area 3, which I call Gamma Central (time 1:14). This is a fairly good-sized area, home to no fewer than 10 Metroids. And most of them are Gammas, hence my name.

In the upper part of Area 3, she finds a missile refill hidden in a sand pit (time 2:28).

Shortly thereafter, she locates a most interesting power-up, the Space Jump (time 3:04). This will allow her to reach many out-of-the-way spots by repeatedly spin-jumping.

Along the right-hand side of the ruins, she can bomb her way inside (time 4:07). Just inside, she finds Energy Tank 3. Afterwards, she soon finds Missile Expansion 15.

At the bottom of the right-hand shaft, she will find Metroid 26, Gamma Metroid #03 (time 4:49). Why can't it be an Alpha? Next, she must use the Space Jump to climb out of this shaft.

Atop the right-hand structure of the ruins, Samus then drops down inside (time 5:56). Hidden within the sand just inside is Missile Expansion 16 (time 6:05).

Down the nearby shaft, behind the missile door to the left, Samus can find the Spazer (time 6:31). This interesting beam expansion fires three parallel beams instead of one. Very useful.

To the right, she will run across Metroid 25, Gamma Metroid #04 (time 7:00). Again, why can't it be an Alpha? This can be one tricky fight. Up above, beyond a bombable floor panel, Samus can find Missile Expansion 17 (time 7:31).

Below and to the left, she finds Metroid 24, Gamma Metroid #05 (time 7:47). This battleground is not as bad. To the left, she will be able to find the Plasma beam, but I prefer the Spazer in this game.

To the right, she will find Missile Expansion 18 (time 8:14).

Beyond, after Space-Jumping up a tricky spiked corridor, she will meet Metroid 23, Alpha Metroid #12 (time 8:44). An Alpha, at last! Beyond, she will find Energy Tank 4 (time 9:15).

Next, she climbs out of the ruins, assisted by the fun Space Jump. Then, she heads down to the lower part of Area 3.

She soon finds Metroid 22, Gamma Metroid #06 (time 12:08).

Atop the nearby shaft, in a chamber loaded with webbing, she finds Metroid 21, Alpha Metroid #13 (time 12:42). Just beyond this bugger, she will find Metroid 20, Gamma Metroid #07 (time 13:09). This fight is tricky with the tight quarters and the webbing.

Some ways below, she will find Metroid 19, Gamma Metroid #08 (time 14:11). This is another tricky battleground.

To the left and up, she will find Metroid 18, Gamma Metroid #09 (time 14:49). If you get the Metroid placed correctly above its shell, it will be very easy to kill.

To the left and up, she will find Metroid 17, Gamma Metroid #10 (time 15:37). This is the area's last Metroid.

When the last Metroid is defeated, a quake will drain some more acid in the main shaft, so Samus climbs out. She soon returns to the main shaft (time 16:33). Before long, after passing a Metroid shell, she reaches the entrance to Area 4 (time 17:10).
