Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA) Playthrough Part 11 - Zebes Exploration
[Hard Mode, 100% Upgrades]
I take back planning the Final Upgrade route in Fusion as extremely difficult and complex, THIS ONE IS EVEN WORST.
Which comes to the 2nd issue I have to take with the remake. Retreading back around Zebes is extremely time-consuming, and the scope of Chozodia + The Space Pirate Mothership is just as huge as the planet itself. Most of the remaining upgrades that require the Space Jump, Power Bombs, and Gravity Suit are spaced ridiculously far apart from one another. All the way back to Ridley and Kraid's Lairs. Even Tourian has upgrades hidden amongst the rubble. This makes trying to get the under 2 HOURS, 100% run, a monumentous chore for players. Fusion certainly had a lengthy final upgrade run BEFORE initiating a complete lockdown of the sectors, but there was enough flow in the route I planned out that it felt united. This one is a jumbled mess held together by mere threads, and took me LONGER to plan, let alone execute.
I should've probably left the Power Bomb upgrade next to the room where you actually get the first Power Bomb tank, until after returning to face the Ridley Robot, because unlike Normal Mode, Samus is constrained to 1 Power Bomb per tank. With the severe lack of recovery pick-ups from enemies here, the ONLY way to recharge Power Bombs is to visit the Save Stations which is a very frequent trip for HARD MODE.
Power Bombing the glass bridge is exactly the same as in Super Metroid when Samus did the same thing to enter Maridia's underwater vicinities.
Upon leaving Chozodia, it returns to the more standard surroundings with enemies that DO drop recovery pick-ups.
Interesting that there was an upgrade underneath Mother Brain's perch, exactly the same case as in Super Metroid, although in this regard, there shouldn't be an upgrade at all there then during Super Metroid. Well whatever...
Tourian is now filled with an unusual green corrosive liquid rather than the lava-like liquid that filled Mother Brain's chambers. The Gravity Suit is unable to fend Samus from the new liquid, and I'm pretty sure that it is the same case with the previous one as well.
While Speed boosting at 22:39, I went sorta trigger-happy with the Wave Beam, and accidentally shot away the ground, forcing me to take the normal route.
Now that with all but 1 Energy Tank remaining, it is time to head towards the Ridley Robot.
