[Hard Mode, 100% Upgrades]

Remember I mentioned that there were 2 things that bothered me in this remake, yeah... THIS is one of them. I'm sorry, for all you Zero Suit fans, but I'm NOT a fan of this Samus, in fact it looks more like something that should be in the ill-fated Starcraft Ghost Project. This segment alone is a major reason why I enjoy Armored Samus more than Zero-Suit Samus; but, she proved popular enough to appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Personally, it would've been better to add another Metroid, NON-Samus character rather than Zero-Suit Samus. It feels like adding Sheik as a new Legend of Zelda char, it comes off as lazy and uninventive for seeing the potential an entire franchise has spanned for so long (DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE STAR FOX CHARS...). Really Ridley SHOULD'VE been in the roster, I felt he had more potential than Zero-Suit Samus and size really shouldn't have been an issue with him seeing as how both Bowser and Ganondorf are suppose to be pretty big themselves, but are shrunken down considerably. Anyways, sorry for going off on a tangent...

This still feels way too out of place for a Metroid game, and I felt it didn't do a whole lot for me. Obviously it derives influence from stealth games like Metal Gear, but really it ushers itself like a completely different game. Perhaps that was the intent (which in honesty, I do acknowledge the logistics to change the game flow a bit), but I really enjoyed the adventuring that classic Samus endured before, multiple times, so I really value that kind of continuity. Samus to me, doesn't run, she fights.

Also if Samus had that pistol from the very start, which could quickly destroy Morph Ball Bomb blocks in a single shot, WHY didn't she take it with her at the very start of the game and save the need for getting the Morph Ball Bombs at all? Also HOW did the gun manage to download MAP data? Without her suit, there is no logical place to store and use this information.

I'm somewhat conflicted why Samus disengaged her Power Suit after fleeing (something she hardly ever did at the end of the other games after reaching her Gunship); however, analyzing the circumstances it is likely because this IS her first mission, thinking that danger is out of sight, she removes her combat suit to relax. This may also be akin to the end of NES Metroid, where she also removed her suit (assuming she does) after defeating Mother Brain in Tourian. In later games and the end of this game too, she doesn't remove her Power Suit at all until she has confirmed a safe distance from danger. Possibly avoiding another chance of letting her guard down again... for the most part.

The Space Pirates CAN be killed, but ONLY if (ironically) one of them shoots another in a crossfire, and it can happen (and can still happen even after reclaiming the Power Suit). Be careful around them, especially in HARD MODE as a single shot from their arm phasers can take out 2 full energy tanks. Don't think that the wall eyes cannot see Samus while she clings behind an obstacle because her dangling foot can still be detected.

The first cutscene, I thought that was a security camera activating (which makes sense circumstantially), but upon closer observation it is actually the Ridley Robot. It is suggested that this was the prototype that would later create Meta Ridley in Metroid Prime.

The Save Stations around the Pirate Mother Ship and Chozodia are the only ones on Zebes that also act like Recharge Stations. Be sure at the start to save and recharge so at least this escapade will be a bit more bearable.

The Ruins Test can be tricky, if you are not fast on the trigger the moment the Chozo symbol appears, notably the 3rd and 4th phases. The Chozo Spirit will probably dish out more damage in collisions than actual thunder strikes.

With regards to the Metroid Lore, after Samus has passed the test from the Chozo Spirits, she is fully recognized as a true member of the Chozo Race and becomes accepted as a Chozo Warrior. She is granted full power to use their most advance armaments: being the 3 unknowns items she acquired earlier. Also gaining the signature shoulder pads on her Power Suit (similar to the giant mural).
