Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Part 36: Not Quite as Planned
So, after collecting all the Ithildin and complete the artwork, we head on over to Tarwin so that we can start to learn how to catch Graugs. The plan gets rather complicated rather fast; So, what we are planning on doing is first stabbing the Graug in the back of his leg (which took me a while to get over to him; If I get noticed, I then instantly fail so ….). Then, while he is bleeding, several Carragores will appear which we will then have to mount one of them. After mounting one of the Gors, we then bait the Graug into following over to us where Torvin (which I think have been calling Tarwin) can jump down onto and kill it. As you might expect from the title of the video, things don’t quite as we wanted it to go, in fact I would say that it actually does much better than what we were hoping. Much like being able to take over the minds of Carragors, we now get the ability to take control of Graugs (which, yes, is a spoiler if you haven’t watched the video but, I do want to talk about it so …). Riding a Graug feels okay; It’s as fast as you might expect it to be and has a nice variety of attacks it can use. It seems rather strong however, this is actually the only time I ride one of these (As of writing this, I have finished the game so I can tell you this). What I found is that trying to mount just about anything, without using one ability that is near/at the bottom of the list of skills, is actually really hard. Every time I meet a Caragor, it just runs at my face and I rarely ever seem to get the “counter” prompt and I don’t want to beat it up (it would be like taking a bat to a car and then getting in said car). As much fun as it to ride creatures in this game, getting on them is a little too hard. That all being said, there is an ability that I keep mentioning that allows you to instantly mount Caragors (not sure about Graugs) but, I get it right before I finish the game which kind of made it redundant (unless we talk about playing the game after completing the storyline but I don’t plan on doing that because we have more games to move onto).
