Akio and Reina throw down in the first mission of Mission Mode, a new mode that's exclusive to the home version of Wangan Midnight R.

Strategy
[Akio - Normal] Simply overtake Reina at the first turn and don't look back. Reina does not have any rubberbanding and can only catch up if you crash or drive very poorly, so once you pass her, the mission is basically over.

[Akio - Hard] Same as the normal version, but try to drive a bit more conservatively. It's easy to get overconfident and tap a wall or car, causing you to fail.

[Reina - Normal] Reina has it easier than you'd think in this mission. Overtake Akio on the first turn. Unlike Reina, Akio has rather strong rubberbanding and will stay glued to you no matter what until you merge onto Wangan, so just focus on driving after passing him. After merging onto Wangan, Akio will come back hard. Try to anticipate his position and block him if he doesn't crash. You'll probably only need to block him once, since the 60 second timer will run out shortly after.

[Reina - Hard] Same as the normal version until you merge onto the Wangan. Since you can't block Akio, you can either hope he crashes (like at 6:30) or let him pass if he manages to avoid the traffic. If he passes you on the last straight, it's not too big of a deal as he'll usually slow down enough for you to pass him again before time runs out.
