Minecraft - Think Outside The Blocks
I'm sure you never saw this one coming didn't you? That being said, Minecraft has become a iconic name since it first brought to fruition in 2009 and released in March 2011, brainstormed by Markus Persson (Notch), Jeb and Mojang and its console ports have a legacy unto themselves. The PS3 version goes back to December 2013 and its PS4 port was released on September 4rth 2014, The old legacy edition was retired to give PlayStation the Bedrock treatment in December 2019.
Minecraft is a sandbox game where we have the choice of survival mode, creative, or adventure mode, And we appear in randomly generated worlds with the goal of surviving or creating anything we want to. Survival mode has Easy, Normal and Hard difficulty on the Console port and each one affects how our hunger depletes, our health regenerates and how much damage we take from monsters and dangerous enviroments.
What may seem simple at first is a very complex game that has many tricks to its engine to help create the game which is now even being used in classrooms to teach. With Bedrock edition here we can select various options such as having Cords to tell us where we are, a beginning map to show where we are and a bonus chest with useful loot we def need to help on the first night in a world.
There's never a true goal per say but a outdated Prima guide for Minecraft when the Combat update was new lists that the goal is to reach The End and slay the Enderdragon, then summon and kill the Wither, two very dangerous boss monsters who have been changed quite a bit throughout the years in patch notes, and additional features have been added such as more biomes, caves being revamped, the deep dark, new items and obviously new mobs to the ever growing list of entities.
Unique to the Bedrock edition is the Minecraft Marketplace which requires a Microsoft account, This marketplace holds creations made by other players and teams sold for Minecraft Tokens (requiring real money), and various creations include new skin packs, worlds, adventure maps and even texture mashups. This inspired my Minecraft Marketplace Madness series which will be rebooted sometime this month, I find this game extremely easy to pickup and play since you just have to think, outside of the blocks.
