Monkey Island 4 - Escape From Monkey Island - Walkthrough Part 1
002:08 - After the scene, use the Brazier of Hot Coals to kick it over. Pick up a Hot Coal from the floor, move towards the cannon and use the hot coal on the loaded cannon.
08:20 - Talk to the Catapult Operator then exit to the right, then right again to get to the main town. Exit via the top right area and run forward to enter the Scumm Bar.
10:05 - Speak with the Dart Players then run to the right of the bar and look at the Balloon beside the drunken sailor and try to pick up the bowl of jerky pretzels.
11:57 - Now talk to the Dart Playing pirates again and ask them why there are so many holes in the wall. When they ask you to pick a number to hit say "I bet you can't hit the balloon over there".
12:50 - Run back to the Drunken Sailor and pick up the Bowl of Jerky Pretzels. Now head outside.
13:37 - Speak with the two pirates standing outside the Town Hall. It's Otis and Carla from the first game. Ask them to join your crew in exchange for cushy government jobs. Exit to the left and keep going left until you get to the map screen.
18:23 - Run to the harbour at the very right side of the island. Pick up the Popped Inner Tube. Head back to the map screen and go to the Governor's Mansion at the top left of the island.
19:20 - Run towards the Mansion and use the Popped Inner Tube on the Funny-Looking Cactus. Then give the Bowl of Jerky Pretzels to the catapult operator and Tinker with the Catapult Controls when he moves away.
25:20 - After the scene walk to Melee Town again and to the Scumm Bar. Talk to the Crusty Sailor who is sitting at the top left of the bar, who is Ignatius Cheese. Ask him to join your crew and follow through the dialogue options until you find out he is the owner of the Scumm Bar. Ask him about Insult Arm Wrestling then "is there nothing I can do to convince you to navigate my ship" and challenge him to an insult arm wrestling match.
28:47 - This isn't very difficult if you've played the previous games. You pick an insult and then Cheese will pick a reply that matches the insult and vice versa until you win. Then leave the bar and head back to the Govenor's Mansion and head inside the building.
32:40 - Pick up the Cushy Government Job Contract (Government Paper) on the china cabinet at the right side of the room then give it to Elaine to get her to sign it. Talk to Elaine and say you are having trouble finding a ship and that you don't have the authority. She will give Guybrush the Gubernatorial Symbol of Melee Island.
35:32 - Head back to Melee Town and give Otis and Carla the Signed Cushy Government Contract. Now we have our crew.
36:50 - Head back to the map screen and to the Harbour. Talk to the Lady of Leisure and ask for a boat. Show her the Melee Island Gubernatorial Symbol and she will take Guybrush to his ship. Since we have recruited all three members of the crew they should show up and set sail to Lucre Island.
41:53 - Head to the main part of the town via the stairs at the top of the screen. Pick up the Duck outside of the Bait Shop then run to the left. In the next screen run to the next screen on the left and enter the Law Offices here.
45:30 - After the scene read the letter in Guybrush's hands before doing anything else. Now head outside and head into the Bank which is the building to the left of the Law Offices with the orange roof.
48:33 - After the scene speak with the Bank Teller and say you would like to retrieve some items from a saftey deposit box to get into the vault.
51:41 - After the scene pick up the Old Sword, the Large Sea Sponge on the floor and the Medium Sea Sponge on the table. Look at the open Safety Deposit Box and pick up the Music Box and then also pick up a Fine Bottle of Grog. Now pick up the Handkerchief on the floor and then the Small Sea Sponge underneath.
52:48 - Walk over to the door and use the Old Sword on the Bottom Hinge to break it off. Now use the Broken Sword on the Crack. Use the three different Sea Sponges on the Crack with a broken, old sword jammed in it. Finally use the Bottle of Fine Grog on the Sponge filled crack to open the door.
55:53 - After the scene, pick up the Tin of Chicken Grease on the ground at the top left of the screen. Then head outside. Run over to the Fragrance stand and pick up a Spritzer from the pile at the left hand side. Pick up the Cologne from the actual stand too. Head back to the area with the bank.
57:12 - Use the Broken Sword on the Manhole next to the Bank. Look at the Manhole cover and take a note of the names on it. Head to the left and enter the Palace of Protheses.
58:41 - Talk to the guy with the two eyepatches. Tell him you are looking for gifts for your pirate friends. Then for free. Go along with the story and choose the names on the Manhole cover from earlier to get the Prosthetic Skin.
1:02:50 - Use the Music Box on Dave then quickly pick up the Prosthetic Hand from the basket underneath the window. Pick up the Music Box and show the Handkerchief on Dave. Now leave.
