ナブ (NABU) in Australia: Part 4 (Internal RS422-to-USB port installed)
I finally sorted out the RS422-to-USB interface on my NABU and installed the USB socket on one of the NABU's back panels.
The trick for wiring the NABU's 5-pin DIN RS422 interface to the DTECH converter is as per @DJSures troubleshooting advice: positive-to-postive/negative-to-negative and receive-to-transmit/transmit-to-receive.
I had two issues with my initial wiring in the Part 3 video:
[1] I had connected to the DE9 pins 2 to 5 instead of pins 1 to 4, and
[2] I had connected receive-to-receive/transmit-to-transmit
Summary is - DIN connector in NABU to RS422-USB converter board with DE9 connector removed:
RS422 DIN pin 1 (TX+) -- DE9 pin 3
RS422 DIN pin 2 -- not connected
RS422 DIN pin 3 (RX-) -- DE9 pin 2
RS422 DIN pin 4 (TX-) -- DE9 pin 4
RS422 DIN pin 5 (RX+) -- DE9 pin 1
Once those were cleared up ... worked like a charm! Of course ... it's not a straight-through cable so obviously Rx needs to talk to Tx, etc.
Then I drilled a 12mmØ hole in one of the metal back plates, squared it up for the USB type B socket, followed by two 3mmØ holes for the securing screws.
Now to look at all the other fancy advancements that have been made for the NABU ... maybe the F18A replacement?
