Nantetatte!! Baseball (NES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Sunsoft's 1990 Japan-only NES game, Nantetatte!! Baseball (なんてったって!!ベースボール ).
Playing Japanese-only games and uploading them wirhout translating them first isn't a habit of mine, but I thought that this one really warranted an exception. There's not much text in it anyway, and what's there is pretty easy to figure out if you know baseball.
It's a great game, but my main reason for this upload is that it's the only NES Sunsoft game that I know of that features a soundtrack by Naoki Kodaka (using the famed digitzed-sample-bass line style) that wasn't released in English. That means, in short, that the soundtrack is amazing.
The game is also extremely novel for how it made use of the hardware. The cartridge had a slot in which you could place expansion packs to update the teams rosters from year-to-year. Two of these packs I believe were released following the game.
For those of you that aren't familiar, Kodaka was responsible for music in games like Batman, Batman: Return of the Joker, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Fester's Quest, Uforia, Gimmick, and Super Spy Hunter. He did more than just these, but these games all share a similar style of instrumentation and composition, and it is this model that Nantetatte!! Baseball follows.
I'm not sure if I'd say the soundtrack quite beats the one in Base Wars, but it's right up there. It's damn good.
