With Need for Speed Heat on the horizon I decided to do a quick revisit of the 21 previous NFS games leading up to the launch of Heat. Here you can see Need for Speed 3 (Hot Pursuit), which was released in 1998 for PC and PS1. In this game I recorded a race on Aquatica against AI with the Lamborghini Diablo SV.

Need for Speed 3 has 9 tracks in 5 different locations. The tracks 5-8 are extended versions of the tracks 1-4 and then there is one final track with only one version. Aquatica is the extended version of Atlantica.

Like all 21 main NFS games Need for Speed 3 can be played on a modern PC with Windows 10 and as you can see there is even a widescreen mod for it.

Need for Speed 3 was the first NFS game that I ever played back on the PlayStation 1 and personally I think the PS1 version of the game is better in some areas. For example it has a better AI, while the PC AI is kind of weak as you can see.

Another interesting difference between the two versions is with the police. On PC you can listen to the police radio, while on PS1 the police is talking directly to you.

The car lineup is different between the versions as well. The PS1 version doesn't have the class C cars and the Scighera is replaced with the Nazca C2.

One thing that I always loved about the game was the awesome interactive music. For example on this track I was always looking forward to reaching the promenade to trigger the epic music part at 9:06. Of course the menu music was also amazing once again, just like in NFS 2.

I will attempt to show you all 21 existing NFS games before the release of Heat, so expect to see a video almost every day from now until the release of Heat and on some days even two. :)
