With Need for Speed Heat on the horizon I decided to do a quick revisit of the 21 previous NFS games leading up to the launch of Heat. Here you can see Need for Speed 4 (High Stakes), which was released in 1999 for PC and PS1. In this game I recorded a race on Dolphin Cove against AI with the Ferrari F50.

Need for Speed 4 has not only 10 completely new tracks but also brings back the 9 tracks from Need for Speed 3.

Like all 21 main NFS games Need for Speed 4 can be played on a modern PC with Windows 10, with the help of some fan-made patches like the Stock Pack and the Expansion Pack.

Just like in NFS 3 there were also some differences between the PC and PS1 versions in NFS 4.

And just like the previous games NFS 4 is also well known for its awesome music. The garage theme might be known to you from customization videos by IsuckAtDriving. And the race music in this video is called Def Beat and was also used in Gran Turismo and Test Drive games.

One thing that is a bit weird in the PC version is the fact that damage and collision are tied to each other. When I turn off the damage it will turn off collision as well, even though I would normally want to have that on against AI.

I will attempt to show you all 21 existing NFS games before the release of Heat, so expect to see a video almost every day from now until the release of Heat and on some days even two. :)
