New 2024 MERCEDES EQS SUV - visual REVIEW Walkaround
After pioneering luxury EVs with models like the EQC and EQS sedan, Mercedes-Benz is expanding its electric portfolio with the all-new 2024 EQS SUV. Essentially an elevated version of the EQS sedan with more cargo space and an optional third row, the EQS SUV blends Mercedes' trademark refinement with zero-emissions driving.\n\nThe EQS SUV rides on the same dedicated EV platform as the sedan, with a long 126.4-inch wheelbase for an exceptionally roomy cabin. Power comes from Mercedes' latest electric drivetrains, including a 355-hp single-motor setup in the EQS 450+ or the potent 536-hp dual-motor configuration in the EQS 580 4Matic that we tested. With 633 lb-ft of instant torque, the 580 rockets off the line, hitting 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds.\n\nDespite its size and nearly 6,300-pound curb weight, the EQS 580 handles surprisingly well thanks to a standard air suspension and rear-axle steering. The ride quality is plush yet controlled, though the EQS SUV still drives more like a tall luxury sedan than a true off-roader despite having an Off-Road drive mode. Steering feel is lacking, but this is par for the course with luxury EVs.\n\nInside, the EQS SUV features typical Mercedes opulence with fine materials, intricate ambient lighting, and the massive optional 56-inch Hyperscreen that encompasses the instrument panel. Mercedes' latest MBUX infotainment is crisp and feature-packed, but we miss having physical climate controls. Passenger space is as generous as you'd expect from a three-row Mercedes, but the rearmost seats are quite cramped for adults.\n\nOn the range front, the EQS 450+ is EPA-rated for 305 miles while the 580 4Matic returns 285 miles of driving per charge from its 107.8-kWh battery pack. In our real-world 75-mph highway test, both variants exceeded 290 miles. DC fast charging at up to 200 kW allows an 80 percent top-up in around 30 minutes.\n\nPricing is steep but expected for a flagship Mercedes EV, starting at $105,550 for the EQS 450+ and climbing past $135,000 for a loaded EQS 580. But for those seeking a large, powerful, and ultra-luxurious electric SUV, the 2024 EQS delivers Mercedes' winning formula with an emissions-free twist.\n\n#MercedesEQSSUV2024\n#MercedesEQSSUV\n#MercedesEQSSUVfirstlook\n#MercedesEQSSUV2024exterior\n#MercedesEQSSUV2024interior\n#MercedesEQSSUVwalkaround\n#MercedesEQSSUVdetails\n#MercedesEQSSUVnew\n\n➡️ Discover all new cars before anyone else!
