Welcome back New World Explorers, we've had an update from the New World team in the form of patch notes for update 1.0.1 which at the time of recording the planned patch time is 10am UTC, 3am PT and 6am ET on 6th October.
There are quite a few fixes in here including a little more info about server transfers and finally a fix to the Abandon Event warning so - lets get to it!
I won't be reading out every single update so please check the links in description if you want to read all the patch notes for a more comprehensive understanding of changes in the update.
First up, server transfer info.
We've implemented the groundwork for the character server transfer, and you may see elements of that work in the in-game store. We're continuing to work on this feature, and will have more information on how the system works later this week when we release server transfers.
Depending on how this stuff looks in the store after the patch I'll drop a follow up video later today, but I have to say I have some concerns about how they plan to implement the server transfers and restrictions surrounding them - I'm also hoping they do not roll back their word to offer this for free as a good will gesture to the community for the server issues on launch week.
I personally have re-rolled 4 times trying to bounce around server with friends attempting to avoid insane queue times and lost a level 30, 24, 17 and 15 along the way finally settling for now and reaching level 32 again so my patience be wearing thin! Let me know how your launch has been down in the comments.
Next up we have one of the most important fixes of all - no more abandon event notification bug where it would stay on your screen for your entire game session after leaving a corrupted portal event.
The AFK Prevention system is ramping up to try and deal with players attempting to avoid losing their spot in the game world servers and being placed in server queues.
Added additional AFK prevention to ensure players cannot fool the existing system with simulated mouse movement.
Shortened the AFK warning message from 20mins to 15mins.
Shortened the AFK disconnect from 25mins to 20mins.
They have also added a pop up notification asking you to confirm when you are leaving a server queue to make help reduce the chance of accidentally leaving one.
Several monsters that are tied to important quests are having their respawn timers adjusted to help smooth out the experience. These include Pastor Walsh, enemies in the Bullrush Wash area, Overseer Zane and Master Zindt.
The turret projectiles in War have been changed from physical projectiles to use hitscan detection to help performance in War, with fewer objects being spawned in the world.
And finally around 11 or so quests that have bugged NPC's, items, quest hand in issues and more have been fixed, make sure to check the list for quests you have skipped or abandoned to see if you can go back and complete them now.
Overall a good update that probably should of come earlier in the week but it is what it is and you've gotta cut the team some slack, the New World launch has been unreal in terms of player numbers and popularity so I have no doubt they are working at maximum capacity to keep things moving.
New World Update: 1.0.1 will release at 3AM PT (10AM UTC) on October 6.
