Creepy maze game with killer robots trying to shoot the living hell out of you! Fortunately, you can fight back with a laser gun with 6 shots-- when you run out the gun will reappear elsewhere in the maze. Also in the maze are bats and spiders-- they serve to paralyze you for a couple seconds when they touch you, which can allow the robots to catch up with you! Whenever you die you reappear at a base-- you can hide in here safely from robots and emerge when it''s safe. An extra life is given every 10,000 points.. you'll need them, since the game gets more difficult as you reach higher point values! At 5,000 points, each time a bat is shot (by you or the robots, and you don't get the points for it if the robots shoot it) it will be replaced by another robot. Also at 5,000 you will meet a new type of robot, which is better at hunting you down than the previous robot type (it sort of ambles about). Then at 15,000 points you will meet a newer robot, and this takes THREE shots to destroy! This is where you really need to start learning the method of peeking out from a wall to fire a shot that the robot will walk into, and by the time it is hit you will have hidden back behind the wall safely. It takes a while to get used to but it will really save your bacon! Practice this method with the earlier robots. At 30,000 a new robot appears; it is black and has a huge shot that can cancel out your shot (previous robot shots would pass through yours and vice versa). At 50,000 points this robot's shots can DESTROY YOUR BASE! Worse yet, it cannot be repaired! You will not be able to hide here anymore! Bummer! And at 80,000 the black robot will be INVISIBLE! You can only tell where he is when he shoots at you or you shoot him (he briefly flashes, since he takes 3 hits as well). Creepy-ass game but I really enjoy this one. 4 different speeds to select. This was dubbed DARK CAVERN for its Atari 2600 port and a cool homebrew version for the Intellivision called MS. NIGHT STALKER (!) has different mazes and a faster-shooting protagonist.
