Hey classic gamers-- or anyone interested in 2nd generation consoles-- here's my tribute to the fairly impressive arcade-to-console king, the COLECOVISION! This system was renowned for its impressive home conversions of arcade classics like Mr. Do!, Donkey Kong, Zaxxon, Burgertime, Buck Rogers, and many, many, many more! This didn't last very long due to the dreaded video game crash, plus perhaps all the money they lost to the home computer system the ADAM (a potentially powerful tool but marred by system failures and production delays).. but those that had this system no doubt have very fond memories. I wasn't a fan of the often choppy scrolling or character movement but for the games that I could put that behind me, there was a lot to like. This lagged behind the Atari 2600 in sales by a cosmic margin, but at least sold double over the 3rd place 2nd generation console the Intellivision. The Roller Controller (with a trakball) was a great addition to the system; the Super Action Controller (and to a lesser extent, the regular controllers with the system) was not. A shame this relatively inexpensive console (at least compared to the Intellivsion price tag of $300!) didn't last longer, even with the massive failure of the ADAM. Hope to see you someday soon with my 20 From The Colecovision series! Stay safe and practice social distancing and hand hygiene religiously.. it's working.
