A game by Endless Fluff / SwordsaintKyo (Carolina Moya and Kyron Ramsey), released March 2010. Download it here: https://endlessfluff.wordpress.com/nsp/

A shockingly solid little shmup! Boasting not just beautiful all-original graphics, but a unique single-button control scheme that still allows you to fire different shots, dash through projectiles, and activate a shield via use of holding the button or double-tapping. It's a bit fidgety at first, but it offers a lot of options and makes you feel truly powerful once you master it (which I clearly didn't).

Created in two months for YoYoGames Competition05 with the theme of "Design A HandHeld Game", specifying a small screen resolution and only one action button, this makes a hell of a good impression and took third place (and a $250 cash prize!). Its levels and boss encounters are perhaps a little drawn-out at times, and for as powerful as your toolset can make you feel, it's also very easy to get stripped of your options and suddenly feel helpless, whether it's losing your sub-weapon by losing a life, or being a sitting duck waiting for your energy weapons to recharge...!

According to the dev's comment on their trailer, two levels had to be cut to meet the competition's deadline. This is the original version of the game released on the YoYo Games Archive; the later version on EndlessFluff's site is updated with a larger resolution, new enemies, and an added 2-player mode, but sadly doesn't finish the game or include the missing levels. I might record it if I can shanghai someone into playing it!
