Nintendo Adds Game Boy Advance, MA-17 & 18+ Games To Switch ONLINE!
28During the 20204 June Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced that they would be adding 4 new titles to the Nintendo Switch Online Service for the Game Boy Advance and the Nintendo 64. With the GBA games, you can access them easily enough through the standard GBA app. With the N64 titles, however, you can't do that. You actually need to download a totally different app to download the MA-17 games in the USA and 18+ games in Japan. Let's take a quick look at what Nintendo added and you can access the new games because it's convoluted.

GBA:
Metroid: Zero Mission
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Four Swords
Nintendo 64 (MA-17 or 18+ depending on region)
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter
Perfect Dark
I understand for parental controls having the separate mature library app makes sense. But what I don't understand is why in the world all the games up to that rating aren't accessible in that app? This means that if I am playing Turok and want to switch to Mario 64 I literally have to exit one app, launch another which happens to do the exact same thing, then launch the game. This is a very poor design, especially since you can't download the mature app from the Switch Online app. You have to go to the eShop for your country to do this. Way more complicated than it needs to be.
As I recently shared, I don't remember ever playing Metroid: Zero Mission so for me out of these titles that's probably the one I am most looking forward to. Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game of all time so I may play that as well. It is pretty unique and fun that they added 4 player online multiplayer to Four Swords, so I may finally be able to play that too!
What do you think of what we got for new Switch Online games? I don't know if the 18+ app is new to the Japanese N64 eShop or not, but the StarTwin game is simply the Japanese version of Jet Force Gemini. Why this is considered mature in Japan I don't know, but it's there. Share your thoughts about these new titles in the comments!
