Nintendo Switch 2 Will Be a Success!
5Despite all the controversies, the Switch 2 launch was a success for Nintendo. Time to analyze the launch and share my hopes for the generation and predict the future of Nintendo as a whole.
The pricing of the device at 450 was a huge controversy as well games being as expensive as 80 dollars like Mario Kart World. And there's also the controversy with Nintendo being able to brick your system from a far if they think you broke the terms of use. The reality is that Nintendo sold 3.5 million units in just four days. They will do well this generation. But I don't think they sell as well as the Nintendo Switch 1. It has sold over 150 million and is on its way to overtake the PS2 with its 160 plus million sales numbers.
I think that the high price and the competition is what will keep Nintendo from selling as well this time, but they will be successful nonetheless. The gaming landscape is different now. There is more completion in the handheld console hybrid market. Xbox has a handheld from Asus, the Rog Xbox Ally. and Sony is rumored to return to the handheld scene, and they have the Playstation Portal. Steam has the Steam Deck. things are different now but Nintendo will do well nonetheless. they are also making movies and shows like the Super Mario Bros movie and the Live Action Legend of Zelda movie. and they have the Super Nintendo World theme parks with Universal Studios. and there are many great games on the way like Donkey Kong Bananza, Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, and Kirby Air Ride 2, and Metroid Prime 4 among others. Eventually we will get 3D Super Mario, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros, Pokemon and more. so they will do just fine!
