No Man's Sky - HOW TO INCREASE EXOSUIT STORAGE SPACE! (PS4 Gameplay)
One of the biggest challenges you will face in No Man's Sky is the limited inventory space you are given. Well, the good news is that you can upgrade your carrying capacity, and it is not all that difficult to do. The only catch is that it will slowly get more expensive the more you upgrade it.
So. How do you upgrade your Exosuit's storage? By getting Suit Upgrades from Drop Pods on planets. Now, it is entirely possible to stumble upon Drop Pods on your own, but that can take a lot of time and is very luck based, as it is easy to fly over one and not even notice it.
That is why I recommend accessing a Signal Scanner by crafting a Bypass Chip. Bypass Chips are very cheap to craft, (10 Plutonium, 10 Iron), and you have the Crafting Recipe right from the very start. Once you access the Scanner, select the "Shelter" option. Now, it won't always detect a Drop Pod as there are other things that can be classified as "Shelters". You can access the Signal Scanner as many times as you want, but you will need to craft a new Bypass Chip each time you want to access it.
Once the Scanner (hopefully) detects a Drop Pod, (or anything else for that matter), it will give you a waypoint so you can find it easily. The down side is that the Scanners detect signals that are "nearby". As such, it is possible that the Scanner might point you to a location that you have already been to. To get the waypoint off of your HUD, all you need to do is activate the "Save Pylon". If you got directed to a location that you have already been to, you only need to approach the Pylon for the game to register that you have reached your destination.
If you feel that you you have exhausted the immediate area's supply of Drop Pods, you can always go into orbit, (because you can fly faster outside the planet's atmosphere), fly for a bit to get to another part of the planet that you have not set foot on and start again. Or you can go to another planet completely. It's your call.
The first Suit Upgrade is Free. Each subsequent upgrade will cost 10,000 Units more than the previous Upgrade. (I.e. Upgrade 2 - 10,000 Units, Upgrade 3 - 20,000 Units, Upgrade 4 - 30,000 Units, and so on.)
The maximum amount of slots your Exosuit can have is 48. After that, any Drop Pods you encounter will no longer offer a suit upgrade.
Hopefully this will alleviate some of the burden of exploring the universe for you. Enjoy, and Happy Exploring! :D
