Nox is an action RPG released in 2000 by Westwood Studios.

I remember in a magazine at the time saying that this was Westwood's answer to Blizzard's Diablo, and it is commonly called a "Diablo clone". But I think it is much more than that, because although it's also an action and role-playing game, it has its own style. In addition, the role elemment is very testimonial, being rather an action adventure with very slight touches of role. A game with very interesting features, such as interaction with the elements of the scenario and a curious vision system by which we only see what the character sees, the rest is covered by shadows. It's worth playing even today.

And to help us to make the game work well in current Windows, there is OpenNox, a reinterpretation of the game engine made by fans, which includes some improvements, especially in multiplayer, and the possibility of playing it in HD. Of course, as a 2D game, the higher the resolution, the smaller everything looks. During the first 45 minutes of the gameplay I play at 800x600 (resolution of the game graphics, but the game window is 1080p), this is one of the original resolutions included in the game, and in my opinion the most appropriate without everything looking too small. Then at 45:46 I change to 1280x720p, this way the game looks in widescreen (something not possible in the original game), but everything starts to look too small in my opinion. As you can see in the resolution options, it allows up to 4K, but I don't know who is going to want to play like that XD It would be nice if in future versions they include a zoom, with the mouse wheel for example.

Nox is currently sold on GOG and the EA app.
