Gameplay of Diablo in its version for the first PlayStation, released a year after the PC original. I play it in the best PS1 emulator currently, DuckStation, although this game being in 2D can not take advantage of any of its more advanced features.

I am fan of the Blizzard saga, and it all started with the first game, which I loved for its particular gameplay, which would be copied by dozens if not hundreds of games, and its dark atmosphere, bordering on terror, with a good audiovisual level (the soundtrack, unforgettable, the theme of Tristram is one of my favorites of all time). But I had always played the PC version, and I was curious to try the version this console version, which is a port adapted to the controller and the capabilities of the first Sony console. These are the differences I have found, except for the obvious ones of control and interface:

-The first and most striking, while the worst, the graphics have half the resolution of the original, going from 640x480 to 320x240 (or similar), and this is very noticeable as everything looks much more pixelated (I soften a little the pixelated look with a CRT filter).
-As to compensate, the game has some extra graphic details, such as colored lighting effects (to better appreciate this, I play with the sorcerer), and in the village we can see crows and the character has a reflection in the river.
-The sound has a little worse quality, especially the sound effects.

About the control, I think it's good, it's well adapted to the controller, although it loses the comfort and immediacy of playing it with a mouse, and the interface is more cumbersome in the aspects of inventory and menus. In general, I found it a good version, it's a shame the low resolution.

P.S.: looking forward to play Diablo IV this year 😁
