This seems to be by far the most substantial Retro Jam, with a whopping 17 participants, plus a map originally intended for it that was later released by Negke. It also appears to be where several notable mappers got their start.

00:00 - Intro

03:28 - Tombs of Tehuti by Bloodshot

I found this map very harsh in terms of ammo distribution. What I didn't realize until halfway through is that this seems to be Bloodshot's first map. Given that, the environment at least is super-impressive.

19:59 - Within the Sands of Time by Breezeep

This map suffered less in terms of ammo distribution but nevertheless had some extremely challenging fights, even on normal difficulty.

39:33 - Wesir Complex by Danzadan

This is another first map, and seems quite impressive for one especially in terms of environment details. It even includes details in out-of-reach areas rather than just abruptly running into the skybox.

1:00:41 - Egyptian Nameless by Doomer

The most notable feature of this map was the final staircase that raises to the exit... then irreversibly lowers again a few seconds later, so if you didn't take it, you appear to be screwed, since it triggers on enemy kills.

1:11:53 - Carmack's Karnak by Dumptruck_ds

This map immediately lets you know that things are going to get dicey at some point, and indeed they do at the end. The 2-pronged approach to obtaining and using the keys was interesting, though the gold key area seems somewhat easy to miss some enemy kills in, and problematic to try to clean up after the fact.

1:25:04 - Realm of Shubba-ho-tep by FifthElephant

I share the opinion of several reviewers who refer to this map as short and sweet. It looks awesome, nails the theme, and is fun to play. Much of the action, detail, and even 3/4 of the secrets occur within the first open area you start in.

1:36:01 - Sand Grain Universe by Ionous

As expected of an Ionous map, this has nice details and a fair bit of verticality.

1:44:57 - The Legacy of Giants by Khreathor

As the name might suggest, this map's scale is rather large... and it probably would've done better being smaller. It seems to suffer an overabundance of symmetry and an underabundance of lighting in some areas.

2:01:38 - The Tomb of Bryn Jones by Lane Powell

This is a neat, compact but also action-packed map with a visual style that sets it apart from most of the other maps so far. I barely clutched out the ending on this one...

2:10:54 - Inverted Tears of Naunet by Bloughsburgh

This map absolutely steals the show. Its scale and detail is unbelievable given the time constraint on this jam, and it does some rather interesting things, in some ways hearkening back to The Anomaly 2 by Digs.

3:19:10 - Sacrifice unto Sebek by Mukor

This is another first map featuring an extremely impressive level of detail, even as soon as the map starts. I ended up running around in this a lot longer than I needed to, which is 100% my own fault, not the map's.

3:47:48 - Untitled by Naitelveni

I've become quite a fan of Nait's maps, and this is her first. It definitely feels more like a first map (including a rather harsh beginning) than some of the others. It also seems like one of the arguably more "retro" styled maps in the set (whether intentionally or not), but it's still got some nice details. The structure of the map immediately gave me Amid Evil vibes.

4:08:00 - Slave to the Power of Death by NewHouse

This map may not be particularly elaborate, but it was certainly a unique and interesting experience.

4:23:59 - Firey Oasis by ShadesMaster

This was Shades' first map, and I can already feel the Doom vibes in it.

4:33:54 - The Bringers of Blight by OneTruePurple

This map features a very interesting and unique mix of textures for this jam. This seems to be OTP's 2nd map ever, and while still relatively simple, it is a huge improvement over the one in Func Map Jam 1.

4:42:17 - Pharbaetus by PuLSaR

This map has some neat details... though it absolutely could have stood to be far more well-lit.

4:54:08 - Vulval Obliteration by Skacky

Skacky once again delivers a solid entry with tons of detail, and an example of how to do a slight bit of symmetry without overdoing it.

5:40:02 - Egyptgington by Negke

This map was originally started for the jam but only actually released 8 months later. As such, I expected it to potentially be the most detailed of the bunch, but I ended up expecting more of it than it delivered, given its scale, and it starts and ends pretty rudely. It does pull off a few interesting things in terms of tech.
