Pak Attack: Func Map Jam X: Insomnia Theme (2019) [BQTN 145 | PC w/ Quakespasm]
2The successor to the knave-themed Func Map Jam 9 had an unrealistically high bar to hold up to, and while it understandably falls short of that, it still features several solid maps across the various environments presented in Insomnia.

There were plenty of solid maps in this jam, but three stood out as going above and beyond the theme:
Twisted Strings by Bloodshot
This map absolutely steals the show - not only in how it successfully incorporates both base and gothic aspects of Insomnia's theme, but especially in how it brilliantly executes horror elements that I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen more mappers try in Quake maps.
Filtration Station by Pinchy Skree
This map was a real surprise. This is one of the biggest and most ambitious maps in the jam, yet it might also arguably be one of the least on-theme, clearly incorporating some cgz07a elements but also bringing in lots of other custom textures extending it far beyond. In these regards it reminds me of Tronyn's map in Func Map Jam 3.
Filtration Station is somewhat open-ended, both in terms of routing and in terms of architecture. Unfortunately this can make it a rather grueling experience, as you may find yourself severely low on resources for the early part of the map, and are likely to be subjected to sniping from various angles.
In-Der-Welt-Sein by Naitelveni
As in Func Map Jam 9, Naitelveni once again delivers an on-theme yet original experience, incorporating elements primarily from czg07b along with czg07c's blood pools, while adding her own aesthetic and architectural elements.
