Pak Attack: Undiscovered Technology of the Pharaohs (2024) [BQTN E203 | PC w/ Ironwail]
It turns out zigi just released a pak that segues nicely from Anopek's Egyptian theme, so it's finally time for me to play Quake for once in three months.
Undiscovered Technology of the Pharaohs consists of a start map, main map, and end map, and as it turns out, the start map has quite a bit of exploration to it as well, so I spent a surprising amount of time there first. The main map feels very reminiscent of Arcane Dimensions or Mazu maps in terms of design, with plenty of secrets, including a subset that unlocks an additional challenge. I spent roughly another hour pursuing secrets after initially finding the exit to the main map. (This video skips a bit of my fruitless running around toward the end of that additional hour.)
The end map is no slouch either, presenting a final battle arena that vaguely reminded me of Dwell v1's.
It was great to see another masterpiece from zigi, as well as new content based on Alkaline. I'm planning to play another recent alkaline-based surprise release in the next couple of weeks as well, so there will be more of that to come.
