Mario enters Mt. Lavalava, a volcano where treasure is said to be found, and along with Kolorado, they travel through the volcano. When entering Mt. Lavalava, I recommend equipping Ice Power, which you get at Shy Guy's Toy Box, and Spike Shield, which you would have obtained back at Dry Dry Ruins. Throughout Mt. Lavalava, Kolorado decides to be an idiot, one example is burning himself on a sinking platform, if you step on it, it sinks into the lava, and you can take damage. This area is filled with Lava Bubbles, they are fire-based enemies, make sure you have Ice Power equipped, that way you can deal more damage against them, Sushie is really useful, as her Squirt deals extra damage to them. Another enemy you can find is the Spike Top, make sure you have Spike Shield equipped when dealing with them, otherwise Watt's Electro Dash can beat them, or use Power Quake against them. This area also has Putrid Piranhas, the boss is going to be the Lava Piranha, so of course we have to fight Putrid Piranhas in the volcano.
For items, if you time your jump from the zip-line, you can get the Fire Shield badge, this reduces the damage Mario takes from fire attacks by 1, and allows him to jump on Lava Bubbles, making it better for defense against those enemies. Defeating the Lava Buds does not remove them completely, they can get up after a few turns.
After defeating the Lava Piranha, it turns out to have a second phase of the fight, this is where Sushie comes to use, as the Lava Piranha and the Lava Buds are on fire, Tidal Wave can put out the fire and stun them for a short time. The Lava Buds can create Petit Piranhas, they have 1 HP, their attacks deals 6 damage and will be automatically defeated.
Another alternative is the Snowman Doll if you have that, you can use that to put out the flames, I would say that the second phase of the Lava Piranha fight is easier than the first phase, however, its attack deals more damage than on the first phase.
With the Lava Piranha defeated, it is time to free Misstar, the fifth Star Spirit, but we have to escape from the volcano, as the lava is rising, and when escaping, there is a cracked wall that requires Bombette to blow it up, but we could not get the treasure as it is not easy to get to, so we have no other choice than to escape.
