Many changes here... It appears that skill morphing - randomly changing a morphable skill of a lower tier to a higher one - becomes available at this point in the storyline (at least, it hadn't occurred even once until now, though this could be explained by the fact my social links are gradually building up and I'm fusing a lot more because things worth fusing for slowly start appearing). Morphed skills do not appear in this video just yet (though I attempted a skill morphing enterprise for Intrepid Knight that ended up failing after hours of attempts) but you will see plenty of it eventually - very soon actually.

We have a new character - Mitsuru! Now she fights instead of commenting. I'm not quite sure yet if she's staying in the party for good and as such deserves longterm attention (I have to pick three allies to focus exp on, common sense suggests, and I'm in favour of Aigis and Akihiko right now, and not quite sure who the 3rd longterm unit will be - nothing is set in stone just yet though, and the later fights will yield more exp for whoever I choose to catch up... somewhat).

As mandatory for the game's female characters, Mitsuru undergoes the Battle Panties ritual! Aren't I a winner? Mitsuru learns a medium damage spell in Bufula at L21, which is the earliest in the party, which is handy because I don't intend to spend the rest of my life farming gems. Not to say my damage output is completely terrible without Mitsuru, but close enough I guess, because the MC is often occupied with different functions.

So the first boss is the three Golden Beetles, and aside from AoAs good luck piercing their armour. Mitsuru's ice magic is nullified here, too - not a perfect time to join the party huh. Just wear those Battle Panties then. Uh where was I? These guys resist all physical damage (all three types), and the magic that does some damage is just laughable.

Luckily for us, gems ignore defence entirely so we at least have some form of reliability thanks to their fixed dmg. AoA attacks comprise the rest of it - the MC and Akihiko can knock the enemies down, after which the party follows up with AoAs. Dizzying the enemies is possible, but once dizzied, you can't perform AoAs untill they stand up, and wasting too many gems is not a very good idea, even though we have medium dmg ones (=100 dmg) in our repertoire. Probably best kept for the tougher battles to come, but there will be alternatives (Megido Gems for example).

The beetles do happen to be very deadly offensively too - piercing AND strike damage makes their attack hard for the MC (to say nothing about the rest of the party, lacking Persona customisation) to withstand, so we have to use some advanced items. The enemies love buffs and debuffs apparently and using a Dekaja Gem on them after their pre-emptive turns (spent buffing themselves up to dangerous levels) is a good way to force the AI to waste another turn buffing up instead of attacking us. Still, the attacks are fatal should they happen, so I use an Attack Mirror immediately. As you can see, I have lots of these at this point - there are certain floors where you have a chance to find many in succession, but they're a little too high and the enemies there aren't afraid of us, so navigation is rather extreme. The lowest floor for mirror farming is F12, and the Emperor/Empress battle levels allow us to farm some mirrors there.

...Then I fought Intrepid Knight and, I'll be honest, I didn't expect I'd succeed on the same night spent at Tartarus.

His Magarula spam is too strong, especially in combination with Magic Charge, but it can be bounced back with Magic Mirrors... restoring his HP four times, and thus making our previous attempts at hurting him futile.

I looked for a different strat and the first idea was to morph a skill into Wind Break, so that the spells would bounce back and inflict serious damage 4 times instead of being absorbed. That... didn't work out, as I couldn't morph the skill I had into Wind Break, but I did get a lot of other nifty skills in the process that are unthinkable for a level 12-13 MC so you will be seeing some of them in future strats.

But what about the boss, how do we fight him? I had to rely on enraging him with Provoke, and since I was too low-levelled to fuse a Pyro Jack for Rage Boost, my chances of connecting it were really low. However, once the boss is enraged, he will only attack physically and the damage is HUGE, so reduce his defence with Rakunda, get behind those Attack Mirrors and then just wait for him to destroy himself.

What an annoying boss otherwise - Magic Charge + Magarula is too destructive for the low-levelled party (and for any party on Maniac Mode in general I would add).
