Persona 3 - Low Level Part 4: Rampage Drive & Crying Table
After successfully finishing the first Full Moon event and beating Priestess, the party is back to Tartarus with vengeance! Now we can more or less painlessly defeat Rampage Drive and proceed further to the Arqa block where new bosses, random items in chests and golden hands offering generous rewards await! Talk about being motivated to beat everyone here this time around!
Chances of beating Rampage Drive previously were really slim without some tedious and difficult mirror farming (hard to do back before the full moon levelling because the enemies were not afraid of you), but now we return significantly more powerful than we used to be. We now have a 4th party member in Akihiko, one I can see potentially sticking around with the party until the endgame (still haven't made up my mind on who should be taken along for the finale, but I should probably start planning ahead already). Akihiko is the master of debuffs (though right now he knows none), an all-around good character without any big spikes in any stats in contrast to most others and is pretty good with Zio damage. At this point of the game, Akihiko stands out because of his high join level - lv. 12 is a lot higher than our low-levelled party. Of course, Akihiko's level problem will be the same as everyone else's after some time passes, but so far this is a big advantage.
We also got access to the Persona Compendium, allowing the fusing and summoning of Personas other than Angel and Pixie (all I had until after the first full moon event) and allowing the MC to fuse some potentially very powerful, flexible and situationally useful Personas for all necessary occasions. Social Links allow up to +5 extra levels on relevant Personas when maxed (1 SLL - 1 level, 3 SLL - 2 levels, 5 SLL - 3 levels, 7 SLL - 4 levels, max / 10 SLL - 5 levels I think it was), which makes the MC both more potent statistically and capable of unlocking higher-end skills by initial level-ups from SL bonuses, not to mention unlocking skill cards (so far not very useful, as expected).
And besides that, we also got a pair of Battle Panties from Tanaka, whoo! Now that's a piece of armour that never grows obsolete - hey, don't look at me like that! We get another pair by fusing a Jack Frost, which is what we do after invade the Arqa block and get sufficiently rich once inside.
The Battle Panties (aka High-Cut Armour) are actually pretty solid pieces of gear because of that magic+2 bonus they grant, and make female MC actually have something of an advantage over the original dude for once. If we ever make Persona builds with Amp-boosted skills, I could see it continuing to be useful.
So Rampage Drive... What an easy boss, with Akihiko joining 4 levels above him. My skills actually deal more damage than item magic with their fixed dmg - can you imagine that? It's especially hard to believe when you see the next few battles where the firepower gradually decreases and reaches an unthinkable slump. All-Out Attacks become more powerful, however (right now they're kinda not worth doing with low damage output and enemies instantly recovering from Dizzy status), even though bosses gradually losing their elemental weaknesses make knocking them down fairly hard.
Then, after some time in Arqa, we face the block's first boss in the 3 Crying Tables!
Those are ice-weak, and counter with fire, which is good for everyone besides Jack Frost-using MC - this is why after knocking the tables down, I switch to Nekomata (fire resist) to get the enemies into Dizzy status so that I can not worry about them at all for at least the first turn while I focus on taking them out one by one, so that when they recover it's less overwhelming to deal with their attacks, and less likely to lead into game overs.
Junpei was a total hero in the previous two videos but is now really meek when Akihiko is around. His fire-resist is useful at least. I have no idea if I should focus on Junpei for the longterm, as he has high HP, biggest strength and can boost the whole party's defence starting from level 38 (which is probably really close to the end of the game), plus he has his own HP regen going on. Kinda hesitate though, so probably not.
I mostly tried to conserve the magic gems here, using skills and magic instead. They'll be useful soon, in more extreme circumstances.
