A playthrough of Electronic Arts' 1992 golf game for the Super Nintendo, PGA Tour Golf.

Played through a full round at TPC at Sawgrass.

PGA Tour Golf is a port of a pretty highly regarded PC title from a couple of years earlier, and was Electronic Arts' competitor against other popular golf games at the time, mainly Links and Jack Nicklaus.

The PC version was a great game, and the SNES version is a good adaptation of it. The heavy use of mode 7 effects serves its purpose well with the smooth "3D" perspective during the hole previews and when following a shot, and it's a massive improvement over the slideshow framerate that the Genesis port suffers from.

Everything is pretty intuitive and easy to figure out, and the official license was incorporated really well - those pro headshots that give you advice at the beginning of each hole are a really cool touch.

I'll say that while I prefer Jack Nickalus and Irem Skins Game, PGA Tour isn't far behind either of those in terms of sheer playability and fun.
