Bubble Ghost (Game Boy) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of FCI's 1990 action-puzzle game for the Nintendo Game Boy.
Bubble Ghost was actually a port of a French PC game released in 1987, but this is by far my personal favorite version. It may lack the hilariously bad voice on the title screen from the Atari ST version, but with its cutesy graphics, better controls, and super-catchy music, this one is much less frustrating and much more fun.
You play as a ghost who has to direct a bubble through a haunted house full of things that designed puncture, stab, and burn. These things, of course, all are meant to burst your bubble. Sorry, that one was just too easy ;)
The real novelty comes from how the harassment controls. As a ghost, you can fly through anything unharmed, so you can only control the bubble's movement by blowing on it. There physics controlling everything feel surprisingly natural, and of course, momentum tends to be your biggest enemy. If the bubble comes into contact with anything, it pops, and your ghost, thoroughly pissed off at you, loses one of his chances to finish the 35 rooms.
I've never played anything else like it. It's extremely creative and quite fun to pass the time with it. It's on the short side, and not terribly difficult, but what's here is of pretty high quality - especially for a game released within the first year of the Game Boy's life.
