Raging Fighter (Game Boy) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Konami's 1993 versus-fighting game for the Nintendo Game Boy, Raging Fighter.
The video playthrough shows two of available game modes: Tournament mode is played through at the default difficulty level with Shades. At 18:35 I show the Story mode played through as Tao.
Raging Fighter was one of the few attempts at a 16-bit style one-on-one versus-fighter on the Game Boy, and was far more successful in its execution than more popular titles like Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat.
The special moves can be a bit difficult to pull off with how accurate the timing for inputs has to be made, but it all controls quite well - especially for a fighter using only two-buttons. You get a punch and a kick button, but the moves for each differs contextually - each perform different moves based on proximity to enemy and which directional key is held while attacking. It moves quickly and flows quite well. The graphics are typical Konami quality - that is, awesome - with huge character sprites, detailed backgrounds, and good animation, and the soundtrack is equally great for a Game Boy title.
If you like fighters and are disappointed by the typical genre offerings on the Game Boy, check this one out. You might really dig the polished presentation and the game play specifically catered to the platform. I mean, it's 1993 Konami - they didn't do much wrong during this period!
