PlaneShiift is an open source mmo from back in 2004 that was developed by Atomic Blue for a few platforms, (Microsoft Windows, Linux, Macintosh operating systems, Berkeley Software Distribution, and Solaris), all which were cross-platform playable.

SO! spending an hour checking this game out it became very clear to me it had that Playstation 1 Resident Evil movement that I SO ADORE, NOT!! Either way, I persevered like I do with a great many of these mmos I try out and stuck it out. Here's what I found..

Clearly the graphics ain't that bad for a 2004 MMO but the silence drove me insane, no music :( I found there was more life in a morgue than active players in this game, understandably as it's nearly two decades old and better mmos out there now.

I really didn't like the quest multi-choice chat system, whilst I can see it is something different I just didn't enjoy it at all. There's a real weird option to finish off the quests straight away to move the tutorial portion of the city forward, which I found odd but GREAT for the purpose of the gameplay video above.

I suppose I should have done some research before playing on what icons mean and such because this game likes its icons, right click something.. icons, chat to someone.. icons, fight monsters.. icons, now.. I like a nice looking icon but frak me.. it felt like I was in Icon Hell.

SO! it wasn't a bad game of what I played on it for an hour BUT it looks like it's very text heavy, multi-choice, complicated systems and such.. so for sure you would need to invest a lot of time into it to test it out completely.

If your interested in trying out this mmo then you can try it here..
