Astellia is a Korean Mmo that has made its way to STEAM in 2019/2020. The game was originally released in 2018 to the Korean market but closed its servers the same year due to lack of players and other issues the game had.

The game has now been released to the USA and EU with two servers and nothing has really changed much from the original, all the problems are still there, gender locked characters, very slow loading screens, server lag issues.. immaterial if there is 50+ players online or 500+ players, basically all the stuff the developers had promised to fix for this release they never.

SO! on my initial first play of this game for the video I was recording I actually stopped it half way through and just trashed it, I hated the problems and the stupid blur effects the game had. The next day I decided to give it another chance, so I reinstalled it.

UPDATE 2022 - The game has since been shut down so you can't play this anymore.

I later found out how to remove the blurring effects the game gives you from the start and well.. the game looked a million times better, but the lag wasn't great but wasn't as bad as it was previously, so I stuck with it and pressed record, an hour and half later I remembered I was recording I turned it off, I actually found I was enjoying the game.

Now, lets get down to my thoughts on the game after spending over an hour playing this mmo.

Graphically this game looks as great as Final Fantasy 14 but plays very differently, especially once you sort out the blurring. The music is okay, it's NOT FF14 standard but the tracks are nice and FF14's musicians are just pure pro at what they do.

The lag.. BOTH servers suffer from lag spikes, there's nothing you can do about this to make it stop, you can have the most powerful PC in the world and guaranteed you will have lag. There's steps you can take to lower its frequency of it happening but you won't remove it fully. There are many people on the forums and STEAM saying the same thing.. "it's because the game is built using Unreal Engine 3."

SO! as I already stated, I enjoyed my time playing what little of the game I did, so much so I forgot I was recording but I suppose that allows you to see more of the game, lol. Is it worth the price on STEAM? HELL NO!! i'd wait until it's cheaper or a free weekend play or something and then decide what you want to do. Graphically it's nice but it's a shame about the lag and other small issues it has.

I will probably stick around on this mmo for a few weeks and see where it's heading with updates/patches and what not (only because I have bought the game now) but unless things are worked on and fixed I really can't see this mmo lasting long before it has to shut down.. to me, it's almost like a last ditch effort for a money grab.

Any hows, have you played this mmo? Do you wan't to play it? Let me know in the Comments below what you think.

Thanks !!
