Since Blight Island by Fletcher Poole both delighted and broke me, I decided to play his newest game Remember the Embers which was created for the Senscape Adventurous Jam on Itch, a jam that has two rules: use Unreal Engine & make the story the focus of your game.

As such, Remember the Embers exceeds, telling the story more through visuals than through text (there is a lot of voice over monologing but that’s more about thoughts on memories than on the game plot which is an interesting choice). It’s a very melancholic game but also has horror elements, I really like how it tells the story, especially the parts that are not explained directly.
