After doing a few rescue jobs after our encounter with Team Meanies, Caterpie visits our base, and he tells us that his friend Metapod has gone missing. Team Meanies then show up, and it becomes a competition on who can rescue Metapod first, and if we can prevent Gengar and his team from getting Caterpie to join them.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

The next dungeon is Sinister Woods, and the main types are Grass and Bug, I decided to do some rescue jobs before then, but there are some good Pokémon that you can recruit in Sinister Woods that can help against Team Meanies at the end. The following Pokémon you can encounter in this dungeon are Swinub, Oddish, Sudowoodo, Sunflora, Sentret, Silcoon, Cascoon, Shroomish, Linoone, Ledyba, Wooper, Scyther, Exeggutor, Hoothoot, and Slakoth. As this is the orignial game, we don't have to deal with certain mechanics from some Pokémon, for example, in the remake, Ledyba were found in groups of four, making them really tricky opponents.
To go over some of the Pokémon, Swinub cannot be recruited as we don't have access to its Friend Area yet, and evolved Pokémon cannot be recruited, so we cannot recruit Sunflora, Linoone, or Exeggutor, and even though it does list Silcoon and Cascoon as recruitable, you have to be at Level 90 in order to do it, and that is a long time till then. Evolved Pokémon are not at the level they would have evolved at, for example, Linoone is at Level 8 and not Level 20 like in the remake, which does make it easier, because in the remake, Linoone is a powerful foe that can use moves like Fury Swipes, but it can make a reliable ally if you were able to recruit one, which you can't in the original game.
To go over Pokémon to watch out for, the first few Pokémon aren't too hard if you have the right counters, Sudowoodo do not move unless you go up to them, neither Silcoon or Cascoon can move, and they know Harden, Sunflora can be challenging if you are using any Water-type Pokémon if it uses Growth and Absorb, Shroomish has Stun Spore to paralyze anyone near it, Linoone has Headbutt for a powerful Normal-type move, Wooper has Water Absorb, don't use Water-type moves against it, Scyther is a tough opponent as it has Quick Attack and Focus Energy. Exeggutor and Slakoth can put your Pokémon to sleep, Exeggutor has Hypnosis, and Slakoth has Yawn, Exeggutor knows Barrage, and multi-hit moves are those you have to watch out for.
For Pokémon that you might want to recruit, the best one is Shroomish, this is because it comes with Stun Spore and is really helpful against Team Meanies, but for other Pokémon, Ledyba can get Supersonic when it levels up, those are some decent options to pick up.
Then for the battle with Team Meanies at the end, Gengar has Hypnosis and Curse to inflict status, when Curse is used, it inflicts the Cursed status where the Pokémon loses 1/4 of its maximum HP at the next turn. From what I have looked into the moves, Ekans has Wrap, and what that does in this game is that it prevents both Pokémon from taking any actions, and the Pokémon affected by Wrap loses 6 HP every two turns, and the effect lasts from 0 to 5 turns, Ekans does have Shed Skin to remove the Wrap status, and as he also has Intimidate, this reduces the power of physical moves from opposing Pokémon by 20%, Pokémon with two Abilities have both in this game, and for Medicham, she has ThunderPunch to counter Flying-type Pokémon, and if she uses Detect, she cannot be damaged by attacks, but you can hit her with a Gravelerock or use a Blast Seed to deal damage, and moves like Protect and Detect lasts for 3 to 6 turns.
After getting past Team Meanies, we then rescue Metapod and return back to Caterpie, and we don't get any reward, but after talking about the Rescue Team Base, Caterpie wants to help us out with the base at some point after how much we did to help him out.
