This is the first week where I trade a Generation 9 Pokémon that was chosen through the random list generator, and the Pokémon for this week is the Grass/Ghost-type Bramblin. I usually breed for 31 IVs in at least 4 or 5 stats, and I went with Jolly for the Nature, as the Bramblin line have Attack and Speed for their best stats.
Wind Rider is Bramblin's Ability, this gives it an immunity to wind moves, like Gust, Air Cutter, Blizzard, Heat Wave, and many other moves, and it instead boosts its Attack stat, it even works when Tailwind is in effect on its side of the field. I didn't go for the Hidden Ability of Infiltrator, as there isn't much reason to take it over Wind Rider.
Then for Egg Moves, I went with Strength Sap, Beat Up, Shadow Sneak, and Leech Seed, Bramblin does get Block, but I didn't see any point in going for that move. For examples, it learns Leech Seed from various Grass-type Pokémon, like Hoppip, Smoliv, or Petilil, Shadow Sneak from Sableye, Shuppet, or Mimikyu, Beat Up from the Sneasel, Houndour, or Tandemaus lines, and Strength Sap from Drifblim or Polteageist. If you are wondering about Block, it learns it from Sudowoodo, Bronzong, Garganacl, and Stonjourner for possible options.
Bramblin has an unusual evolution method that is shared with two other Pokémon, to evolve it into Brambleghast, you have to walk around with Bramblin outside of its Poké Ball for 1000 steps using the Let's Go feature, and then level it up with a Rare Candy or an Exp. Candy, don't know if the evolution can happen during battle. Bramblin can be evolved right away, as Brambleghast learns the same moves at the same level, and there are no exclusive level up moves it can learn. For moves, it can get Defense Curl, Rollout, Astonish, Absorb, Rapid Spin, Bullet Seed, Infestation, Hex, Mega Drain, Disable, Phantom Force, Giga Drain, Curse, Pain Split, and Power Whip.
Next are TMs, and I will list what Brambleghast can learn, it can get Scary Face, Confuse Ray, Trailblaze, Pounce, Thief, Night Shade, Seed Bomb, Spikes, Grassy Terrain, Giga Impact, Hyper Beam, and Tera Blast.
Brambleghast isn't a commonly used Pokémon in online battles, or even in the competitive scene, as its movepool is very limited, the only non-STAB move it can learn is Pounce, which has 50 Power, and that is outside of Normal-type moves, which means Brambleghast has to use a Tera Type different to its base types, Fire and Dark are good choices, Fire to give it a way to take on Steel, Grass, and Ice-tpe opponents with Tera Blast, and Dark to turn its weaknesses into resistances. It doesn't see much use in Single Battles, but it has access to moves like Strength Sap to heal itself while weakening its opponent's Attack stat, and with Power Whip and Shadow Sneak for its main moves, it can use Bullet Seed with the Loaded Dice to get in enough hits on its opponents.
In Double Battles, while Brambleghast isn't a common Pokémon used, it does have potential, its Ability of Wind Rider makes it pair well with Pokémon that can set up Tailwind, like Murkrow or Talonflame. Once Tailwind is set up, Brambleghast has its Attack boosted, and its Ability even gives it an immunity to moves like Heat Wave and Icy Wind, which are popular moves in Double Battles. It has Shadow Sneak for priority, and Power Whip for a powerful Grass-type move, if you want more accuracy, Bullet Seed with the Loaded Dice is an alternative. Brambleghast does have to use a different Tera Type, like Fire to handle Steel-type Pokémon, or Dark to make it resist types like Ghost and Dark, as its movepool is very limited.
If you want to know about if Brambleghast is good in Tera Raids, if the Pokémon has a wind based move like Hurricane or Heat Wave, Brambleghast can use that to its advantage, specially if those moves are the only moves of that Tera Raid Pokémon, but there are better options.
As for going through the game, Bramblin and its evolved form take a while to get their better moves, it normally starts with the weak Astonish, and while it does get Bullet Seed at Level 13, it doesn't get Phantom Force till Level 35. Shadow Sneak for an Egg Move is really helpful, as that does give Bramblin a reliable move. It is a good user of Trailblaze when you get the TM for that move, and it has access to Rapid Spin for removing entry hazards, which can be a move it can use in battle. Grass/Ghost is an interesting type combo, specially with Pokémon like Trevenant, Gourgeist, Decidueye, and Dhelmise, what makes Brambleghast stand out is its unique Ability, Trevenant can be a decent wall with Harvest and Sitrus Berry, and there is Dhelmise, which has Steelworker that effectively gives it STAB to any Steel-type moves it uses, and with Brambleghast, it works well in teams that make use of Tailwind to put its Wind Rider to good use.
