Three types left to go, and I have done all 15 of the original types back in Gen 1, and now moving onto the types introduced in Gen 2, starting with the Dark-type. It took me a while to decide my team, so I went with Zoroark for my lead, and in order to put Zoroark to good use, I chose two Pokémon that had types that cancelled out one of the Dark-type's weaknesses, so I went with Bisharp and Grimmsnarl.
Zoroark is my lead, she has some really powerful Special Attacks, like Night Daze, Sludge Bomb, Flamethrower, and Extrasensory, all of which gives good coverage against a variety of types, and she has a Focus Sash. I did attempt this before, but when I realized that my Grimmsnarl can Dynamax and not Gigantamax, I then changed it so that Grimmsnarl can Gigantamax, and when Zoroark Dynamaxes while it takes the form of Grimmsnarl, it will be a Dynamax and not a Gigantamax, so this does solve one mystery I had been wondering since Zoroark's return in the Isle of Armor update.
I had to include Bisharp in my team of Dark-types, as it is one of my favourite Dark-type Pokémon, and both Bisharp and Zoroark are in my top 5 favourite Pokémon in Gen 5. Going over moves, Sucker Punch on Bisharp is good for priority, while Iron Head and Throat Chop are for high damage dealing moves, Brick Break is there for opponents that use Reflect or Light Screen, and I have the Black Glasses on Bisharp to give him extra power from Throat Chop and Sucker Punch.
The last one on the team is Grimmsnarl, I found that he was the best to have in the last slot to make use of Zoroark's Illusion. For this Grimmsnarl, I went with Thunder Wave to paralyze foes, Bulk Up to boost his Attack and Defense, and for his attacking moves, Spirit Break and Darkest Lariat are good enough moves, and when Gigantamaxed, Grimmsnarl can use G-Max Snooze, which has a 50% chance of inflicting the effects of Yawn on the target.
While Zoroark is about tricks, and Bisharp is one of the best Dark-type Physical attackers, there are some other options that I will list. For Physical Attackers, as Bisharp is good enough, some other options include Tyranitar, Crawdaunt, Sharpedo, Drapion, Weavile, Krookodile, Pangoro, Incineroar, Obstagoon, and Urshifu in its Single Strike Style are good choices, and Urshifu can Gigantamax, so that is another alternative over Grimmsnarl for a Gigantamax option.
For Special Attackers, the most notable is Hydreigon, and while Zoroark is a good Special Attacker, I did check the list, and most of the Dark-type Pokémon are Physical Attackers or can be used Mixed or are used as defensive Pokémon. For examples of defensive Pokémon, Umbreon, Mandibuzz, Scrafty, and a few other Pokémon can do well in battle.
That is the good Dark-types out of the way, for lower tier options that aren't the best, but could be good if you want to use them, Shiftry, Alolan Persian, Sableye, Skuntank, Liepard, Malamar, Thievul, and Morpeko can be decent if put to good use.
If I had kept to one Restricted Sparring type per week, this video would have gone up right after the release of The Crown Tundra, and I was expecting it to release in the middle of next month. They did reveal the types of the Galarian Forms of the Legendary Birds, and Moltres's Galarian Form is Dark/Flying-type, and while they are bringing back some Legendary Pokémon, the only Dark-type Legendary Pokémon returning is Yveltal, and it is banned in Battle Tower rules. I don't know if Darkrai will return in The Crown Tundra update, even though Darkrai is considered a Mythical Pokémon, and Mythical Pokémon have never been allowed in Battle Tower rules or VGC Tournaments.
