Time for another Wild Area Event, and this one is themed around the Fossil Pokémon introduced in Generation 1, it will be live from July 23rd till July 25th, so it is another limited time event. The following Pokémon you can find there are Omanyte, Kabuto, and Aerodactyl, and there is a very rare chance of finding a Shiny Omanyte.
Going over each of the Fossil Pokémon, and if you are wondering, Omanyte and Kabuto do appear in 5 Star Max Raid Battles, not their evolved forms Omastar and Kabutops. I will start with Omanyte, as there is a 2% chance of finding a guaranteed Shiny Omanyte, its Hidden Ability is Weak Armor, which is not worth using on Omanyte, almost everything that gets Weak Armor already gets a better Ability, there are some Pokémon that benefit from Weak Armor, like Polteageist, and that's like the only Pokémon that can make use of Weak Armor.
Omanyte already gets Swift Swim for its normal Ability, which is the Ability you will want when using it, mainly its evolved form Omastar, not like you would ever use Omanyte in an online battle, but there are players that like to use Pokémon that are not fully evolved and do well with them in battle. Omastar's main move for battle is Shell Smash, and it learns some good Special moves, like Hydro Pump, Meteor Beam, Earth Power, Ice Beam, and a few others, Surf and Scald work as alternatives over Hydro Pump. Omastar usually holds a Power Herb if it has Meteor Beam, so after a Shell Smash, it can get in some huge damage with Hydro Pump and either Earth Power or Ice Beam for coverage, and it is a powerful Dynamax user, because if it sets up rain with Max Geyser, Omastar is very hard to stop unless you have Rillaboom with Grassy Glide, that is the one thing that can stop Omastar.
The next one is Kabuto, its Hidden Ability is Weak Armor, and like with Omanyte, but it also gets Swift Swim as well. Kabuto's evolved form Kabutops is the Physical Attacker out of the Gen 1 Fossil Pokémon, Omastar is more of a Special Attacker. Kabutops has access to Swords Dance to boost its Attack, and it can use some good Physical moves like Liquidation, Stone Edge, Leech Life, Superpower, and many others, and it can use Aqua Jet for priority. While Kabutops was good on rain teams back in Gen 5 with Drizzle Politoed summoning permanent rain, Kabutops was one of the more notable Physical Attackers with Swift Swim, the other being Qwilfish, but right now, Barraskewda outclasses Kabutops as a Physical Attacker with Swift Swim, and Barraskewda has higher Attack and Speed, but is less defensive.
The last one out of the three is Aerodactyl, this Pokémon has high Speed and good Attack, and it learns a wide variety of moves, like Stone Edge, Dual Wingbeat, Earthquake, Iron Head, Crunch, and the Elemental Fangs, it can even use Tailwind to support its teammates in Double Battles, Aerodactyl is tied with Crobat for being the fastest Tailwind user at base 130 Speed, but most players tend to use Whimsicott or Tornadus, as they have Prankster, or Talonflame as it has Gale Wings. Aerodactyl's Hidden Ability is Unnerve, this can be a good Ability, as it prevents the target from using their held Berry, and you see a lot of them in Double Battles. While Rock Head isn't bad, the only recoil move Aerodactyl learns is Take Down, it doesn't even get Head Smash, which would be a great move on Aerodactyl with Rock Head, or even Brave Bird, and before anyone says that Aerodactyl can't learn Brave Bird because it isn't a bird, Crobat can learn Brave Bird as well, and that thing isn't even a bird. I am aware that Aerodactyl can learn Double-Edge, but it can only be learned as a Tutor move in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald.
Another thing I want to go over is that I don't like going through the Crown Tundra in Max Raid Battle events as much as the other Wild Areas, because usually when there is a snowstorm, it can be very hard to see from afar, so I am usually relying on flying from one area to another.
