After the 1994 Connectix QuickCam (https://youtu.be/t4G-JwuttsQ) the 1998 Color QuickCam VC (https://youtu.be/5-cSmNRRfvw) and the 1996 Midiman Portman PC/P Midi Interface (https://youtu.be/re-CMQNVQSc), we continue the exploration of the wonderful world of the PC Parallel Port Peripherals with this 1997 Polaroid PhotoMax Photo Scanner.

The scanner comes with the PhotoMAX Image Maker Software, which is a very simplified "toy" so instead I used the MGI Photo Suite software which came with the Polaroid ColorShot Digital Color Photo Printer because at least it works more or less like how modern software works :)

As you can see it is not particular fast, and that was only at 200 DPI on a very small photo, but I like the concept of the scanning head not moving and instead to move the photo!

The photo is of my sister and I playing a game of Pong on an old 10 in 1 game console on a black and white TV during Christmas probably in 1980.

The scanner UI pretends that it can scan to up to 4800 DPI, but with the 256 megabytes of memory on the PC all I got was a "memory allocation error", and at 400 DPI I ended up with a 180 megabytes large picture that the program was not able to display!
