PowerA Switch Controller Unboxing & Review vs Pro Controller
In this video, I unbox the PowerA Wired Controller for Nintendo Switch, a GameCube style controller. I share my first impressions and also compare it to the Pro Controller to see which one is better and which one you might considering buying.
As you can see in the video, when it comes to ergonomics, the PowerA GameCube style controller wasn't comfortable for my big hands. The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller was perfect for my big hands. Of course, this is subjective, and some of you might find it perfect for your hands.
That being said, I liked the button layout, I found it easy to remember and use. The A button is large and centered, the Y is located in the vertical line above the A button and the X on the horizontal axis (X/Y, axis as it should) so it was easy to remember, same goes to the B button, which is the back button and it resides on the bottom left side.
The PowerA wired controller for Nintendo Switch felt good in the hands in general, the problem was with the shoulder buttons which cause me to twitch my fingers and I found it very uncomfortable.
The joysticks felt good, precise and responsive when playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so in that aspect, I found them to be good for the game.
The PowerA Wired Controller for Nintendo Switch (GameCube style) comes with a very long detachable cable (3m) with is a big plus if you intend to play it while being far from the console/TV.
Now I don't have the original GameCube controller so I couldn't compare between the PowerA and this one.
The PowerA GameCube style controller also worked well for other games like Follow Knight, so the concerns whether it fits other games to longer stick distance registration turned out to be non-problematic, not for me at least.
Overall, for me, I prefer the Switch Pro Controller.
