I think one phrase really sums up Proze. "Hit or miss." No not the meme, the original definition meaning it's as likely to be bad as to be good. Most things in Proze fall under the hit or miss category.

Graphically some things were hits. The sky box for example. I loved it. It was a beautiful night sky. The humans in the world were definitely a miss. From their general appearance to their unnatural animations they were just bad and ruined any tension that may have been building. All I could do when the two sphere NPCs were talking was focus on the woman's oddly contorted hand she was flailing around. I'm not sure whoever animated this has ever seen someone stand around and have a conversation.

The audio also had some really good moments and some super cringe parts. Some of the voice acting was just god awful while the 'hey Max' guy was really good. The ambient audio was highly immersive and very creepy at times.

Puzzle difficulty for the most part seemed relatively low once you knew what to do however it really felt like not enough hints were given to actually figure out what you were supposed to be doing in the first place. This lead to some wildly varying difficulty with your first puzzle being exceptionally difficult and later puzzles being trivially easy. The most difficult part is figuring out what you're goal is in the first place. This is poor puzzle design IMO. The goal should be clear and the puzzle should be how you get there.

World interactions for the most part were a miss. Not just things like the phone I could grab from anywhere in the room but also things like the pot not having collision with the fire. World interactions like that go a long way to sell the world your in. If things don't interact with each other the way we expect, it's that much harder to be immersed and enjoy the experience. I'd rather the items in the world not be intractable rather than have immersion breaking interactions.

So, lets talk about your body.

It's changing as you get older.... Wait, not that talk...

Proze has a full body avatar but does not have any calibration for that avatar. The devs expect a single avatar to be one size fits all. To me that feels lazy. It's definitely not going to fit most. The arms were definitely off for me. The IK was not very good. The hands were not attached to the body. As you play these become less of an issue but it definitely makes a very bad first impression.

There was a lot of good in Proze. Unfortunately it's overshadowed by the bad.
