Japanese: 0:00
English: 1:47
French: 3:43
German: 5:43
All of these clips were recorded on a PS2 Slim, using homebrew to force 480p output. The English footage was captured on the North American version. The PAL version can be played in English, French, and German; the PAL English tutorial looks exactly like the NA tutorial.

Here is the opening tutorial for the PS2 version(s) in every available language. While I originally intended to upload the JP PS2 footage as its own video, I got the idea to expand the scope a bit. In particular, there is very little PAL footage out there in general, so I figured the more PAL footage I could release, the better.

For the sake of simplicity and focus, this video *only* shows PS2 footage; there is no direct GCN/PC comparison here, but I have uploaded separate videos for those versions:

JP GCN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf70Vf0dVmc
NA GCN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GbtwKG0_iU
PC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIhMGtr4GbI

JP released first, and it has a different control scheme from the others. While it makes its own sense, I think that the changes made for NA/PAL were ultimately for the better. In particular, the D-Pad for movement is a huge plus for NA/PAL (whereas the D-Pad does not have movement functionally on JP). While it isn't apparent in the video, Circle is Confirm and Cross is Cancel on JP, whereas it's Cross to Confirm and Triangle is Cancel on NA/PAL.

Obviously, Iwazaru's speech is not garbled on JP (which is a well-known regional difference). Interestingly for JP, Iwazaru explicitly says the Dualshock 2 buttons. However, for NA/PAL, though the garbling obscures it, Iwazaru is actually saying the *Gamecube* buttons instead; there are a few obvious tells, like "Circle button" vs. "A button" or "L/R Trigger" vs. "L/R One."

Naturally, they didn't make Iwazaru speak (garbled) French/German for those languages, keeping the same English text-to-speech voice. For NA/PAL, they added text to explain the added D-Pad functionality (not found on GCN), but didn't add new voice clips, resulting in the weird-looking side effect of Iwazaru speaking very little compared to the wall of text on-screen.

The usual quirks of the tutorial are the same across the board: it still doesn't tell you how to reload or flip the camera perspective, you can see the tutorial room on the map (but only after you leave), and you don't keep the blood from the enemies.
